A win to transcend lifetimes: “Sa Susunod Na Habangbuhay” MV garners int’l praise

Our favorite 9-piece folk band has done it again! A few months after the great success of their collaboration with Young K of DAY6 entitled “Leaves”, Ben&Ben brought pride to Original Philippine Music by bagging the Best Song, Best Music Video, and Best Music Video Cinematography awards in the 2021 Canadian Cinematography Awards.

The music video, before its premiere, was greatly awaited by the band’s fan base, or fandom, as they say. It was well-received and highly appreciated by the fandom and was even a source of speculation shortly after its release.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla appear as a couple in a beach house setting in the music video directed by Jorel Lising and written by Juan Miguel Severo. The mood is happy at first but spirals and becomes unsettling towards the end. The video hints at the presence (or future presence) of a child, however, the child is never shown. So, what really happened? Was there ever a child? Was it all just a dream? Watch the video yourself here!

This music video achieved a great milestone for OPM. It brought honor and attention not only to Ben&Ben and the actors present, but also to Filipino directors and screenwriters with commendations for both their song and their cinematography. OPM reached even greater heights, garnering recognition overseas.

The band serves as a great inspiration for many growing Filipino artists, so continue to support local bands and Filipino artists to encourage them. Who knows? They might just be the next to bring pride to our arts and culture through OPM.
