Traffic crowding the streets during the morning rush, disoriented souls trying to find their way through the familiar hallways, and students and teachers making up for the lost time, with awkward hellos ending with vivid conversations – after two years of hiding behind our screens, the time has come for us to finally be seen.

The year 2022 is for miracles, as the Augustinian community finally steps back into their second home. Much has changed in the past years – how we live, learn, communicate, contribute, adapt, and understand. Change is constant, and it brings new opportunities to create and improve. Our very own alma mater, Colegio San Agustin (CSA) - Makati, has gone through a few changes of its own. Renovations and relocations were done in our beloved high school library, faculty room, Audio-Visual Room (AVR), Sta. Rita Hall, and new classrooms in the basement of the high school building.

Though new and improved, they were still filled with the same Augustinian spirit. These changes in our school have surely caught the attention of students and teachers. They make the school feel different yet familiar. The new classrooms in the basement, where the faculty room and the library were previously located, are beneficial in accommodating more students in the hybrid set-up. The Sta. Rita and the AVR reminisced on the classic look of the facilities and were tailored to the adjustments needed. The new high school library and faculty room have moved to a different area in the high school building, making their layout and interior more spacious and accommodating.

“It maximizes the space provided and provides a new working/learning environment for both students and teachers,” a student stated on the benefit of the renovations made.

The faculty room gives teachers a new environment suitable for conducting online classes, accomplishing their materials, and taking rests in between. The new library benefits both students and teachers by giving them a place to study, accomplish tasks, find reference materials, and do leisure reading.

A student commented, “It [the renovation] feels like CSA is taking a change for the better.”

Truly, the rebuildings have received positive reactions and sparked much curiosity from Augustinians when they returned to campus. The school’s renovations are truly appreciated as they suit the current needs of the school, the students, and the teachers. Ultimately, these new yet familiar places and facilities will foster student development, create memories within the walls of the school, and be utilized for good use during the academic year and in the future generations of Augustinians.
