Amidst the community quarantines caused by COVID-19, churches have been using an alternative approach to the usual masses by using online materials or different television programs to celebrate masses.

Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo of Kidapawan said that the Church finds innovative ways to cope with the spiritual needs of the Filipinos while following the different restrictions of the lockdown.

Bishop Broderick Pabillo also stated that attending mass online is very different from physically attending the ceremony, and even though we are in our homes, we must still take online masses as seriously as being inside the church.

The Archdiocese of Manila has suspended all public religious activities of churches and shrines as a response to the plea of the medical community last August 2.

“Staying at home is the only way everyone can show solidarity and compassion to our front-liners. Let's do everything we can to help them,” Bishop Bagaforo added.

Despite the closing of the churches, the Archdiocese asks for prayers for the frontliners and their families affected by the deadly virus.
