Experience a Drive-in Cinema Today!

COVID 19 has affected plenty of businesses like the food industry to entertainment. Sadly, cinemas have suffered a great deal. They were closed down because of the strict protocols that were implemented by the government.

Because of the successful run in SM City Pampanga, drive-in cinema is now available in SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, which was launched on September 9, 2020.

This brings back the familiarity of catching films in cinemas, while compiling with the mandates set by the IATF.

The first movie to premier in this set-up is the long awaited and highly regarded, Train to Busan 2: Peninsula directed by Yeon Sang-ho’s.

The drive-in cinema is open every Wednesday to Saturday at 5pm and will strictly have only one movie per day. Attendees are expected to come 30 minutes before the actual show time -- 6:45 pm.

Guests must first purchase their tickets online at www.smtickets.com, as to not interrupt the viewing experience. One ticket costs Php 400, which is inclusive of movie snacks -- water bottles, popcorn, and beef franks.

In compliance with the protocols, attendees must be 21 - 59 years old. A minimum of two and a maximum of 4 people are allowed inside the car. There is a maximum of 106 cars per screening. To enhance the movie-going experience, traffic marshals will assign designated parking spots depending on the size of their vehicles upon arriving at the venue.

The screen is a 20 meter by 8.5 meter outdoor monumental screen elevated four meters from the ground. A dual projector system is implemented to provide a sharper and more visible images.

Audiences must turn on their car radios to a FM station at a specific frequency in order to access the audio of the film. Moreover, they are allowed to bring other devices that support a FM station.

Lastly, Viewers are required to stay inside their vehicles with their masks on. They are also advised to practice social distancing throughout.
