Despite being in lockdown, thousands of people continued to help frontliners and their fellow Filipinos.
Last March 13, Vice President Leni Robredo started a donation drive that will benefit frontliners and communities all around the country.
The donations were used to provide dormitories and free shuttle service for frontliners and buy PPE sets, food and care packages, extraction and testing kits.
An amount of more than 60 million was raised from the budget of the office of VP Robredo and from the donation drive which is equivalent to more than 300 thousand PPE sets and 15 thousand pesos food and care packages.
100, 000 PPE sets have been delivered to 552 facilities.
Included in the PPE sets are letters to frontliners and Covid-19 patients from children.
Locally designed reusable Personal Protective equipment sets were also distributed to support Filipino dressmakers.
"Dahil sa kakulangan ng supply, nagpagawa din tayo ng mga locally designed PPE; nakapagbahagi na tayo ng 1245 nito bilang tulong sa mga frontliner, pati na sa mga mananahing Pilipino." VP Robredo said.
Aside from PPE's and food and care packages, the office of VP Robredo has also set a budget for extraction kits.
"Naglaan din tayo ng pondo mula sa ating tanggapan para sa mga extraction kit sapat para sa 12, 750 samples." Robredo explained.
As a whole, the donation drive was able to benefit 594 hospitals, 45 health facilities, 62 Local Government Units, 102 rural health units, 10 NGO's, 17 government agencies and 6 funeral parlors.
