Vaccines have rolled out in the Philippines since March 4, and are still being distributed accordingly. Despite the many urges of different health organizations, both internationally and nationally, 36 % of Filipinos are disinclined to get vaccinated. Vaccination secures and protects the body from the dangers associated with COVID-19. Thus, COVID-19 injections shouldn’t be disregarded. Being inoculated will help the body fight off the deadly and invisible virus around us.

COVID 19 vaccines are safe to use, and nothing wrong will come out of getting vaccinated. A Pulse Asia survey said that the top reason why Filipinos didn’t want to get vaccinated is because they have doubts on it’s safety. Scientists and doctors conducted multiple studies in order to create these vaccines. Before they were introduced as “vaccines” they went through multiple clinical trials, to test if they were safe and effective. Moreover, 96 % of Filipinos are concerned about the virus infecting them and their family members. The doubts about contracting COVID-19 will lessen when more people get vaccinated.

Taking COVID-19 vaccines lessens the chance of contracting the virus from other people. When you are vaccinated, you don’t need to worry about wearing masks outside of public places (if not required to). Despite this, 36% of Filipinos still disagreed with getting vaccinated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people who have already received their second dose of the vaccine, can go outside and do daily activities without having to fear getting infected.

Getting inoculated with the COVID-19 injection ensures your safety, and protects you from the virus. Studies show that taking the vaccine boosts a person’s protection against the disease, whether or not they already had COVID. A misconception that some people tend to believe is that the vaccines contain the COVID-19 virus. However, this isn’t true because you won’t be tested as positive in viral tests. Getting the vaccine is a much safer choice when it comes to protecting oneself and family members from getting infected with the disease.

In the end, it is important to receive the vaccines when one is of the right age. Everyone has a right to doubt something, but this doubt can be lifted with the result of multiple scientific studies and research. COVID-19 vaccines are safe to use, lessens your worry of contracting the virus, and most importantly it ensures your safety from the virus. In the beginning of the lockdown, the government decided to wait for the vaccine instead of solving the rise of infection happening in the country. Now that the “solution” to the problem is here, the community just needs to accept and take it.
