The pandemic has changed our lives in many ways, but what has been affected a lot is our school. Nowadays, we do it virtually or in modules and papers. We don’t even go outside, to see our friends, our teachers nor the school staff who do their best to help us in everything. Our school is in the tips of our fingers. We study by ourselves, but what if we have problems or situations we can’t handle? Well, just wait and see.
First, what is self-studying? Self-studying is the act of getting instructions from your teacher, wherein they guide you to make the output. You can use the textbooks as well. We can also learn the lesson through any means such as google classroom, google meet or through offline means like playlists or modules.
The advantages of self-studying, from an article made by IvyWise (2014), it was stated that “For high school students, self-studying can improve transcripts” and “high school students benefit from self-studying habits to prepare for a more independent learning environment in college.” As we grow older these experiences we have of self-studying, it may guide us to do better work ,and it makes learning more enjoyable. We become more independent and productive.
So, how do we develop self-studying sessions? Set realistic goals. If you set goals that are unachievable, you will just end up thinking that you are unable to do anything. Study in short, frequent sessions. If you study like this, you will be able to always think clearly. You will be able to quickly learn and keep in mind your lessons. Lastly, prepare and maintain your study environment. When your surroundings are clear, it will help your brain relax and for it to not stress about the cleanliness or how messy your place is.
Our lives are so different now, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn anymore. Our schools are doing its best to help us in every way possible, and even if we are at home, we will still be able to use our minds to its full potential. Nelson Mandela said,
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
