With the May 2022 Philippine National Elections just around the corner, Colegio San Agustin - Makati students were surveyed to see how their preferences differ from Filipinos outside the institution.

To prepare Augustinians to exercise their right to vote, the Humanities and Social Sciences strand partnered with Insights-Salik to create a mock election poll that asked students on who they wanted as their national president and vice-president for the next six years.

The survey was conducted in July 2021 with 50.2% of the respondents being male and 49.8% being female; the participants ranged from ages 11–19.

In comparison to the June 2021 pulse results released by Pulse Asia, the Augustinian body greatly favors the 1Sambayan coalition that aims to counter President Rodrigo Duterte’s to-be endorsed candidates.

For the presidential position, incumbent Vice-President Leni Robredo is in the lead with 55.5% participants’ choice, followed by Attorney Chel Diokno who garnered 18.5% and Manila City Mayor Francisco Domagosco (“Isko Moreno”) with a 7.4% tally.

A total of 7.4% of students also provided answers that implied or directly stated they were currently unsure of who to vote for.

Contrastingly, the poll showed no response for Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan candidates ̶ Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who garnered 28% of voters' choice and Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Paquiao with 12% in the Pulse Asia polls.

In the position for vice president, Diokno was the most favored candidate accumulating 33.3%, a large variance to his 0.2% in the June pulse.

Following him again was Moreno with 14.8%, followed by Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Sen. Grace Poe tied at 11.1%, and former senator Antonio Trillianes with 7.1%.

Similarly, CSA - Makati students visibly lean towards 1Sambayan with only one respondent stating they would choose Duterte as their next Philippine vice president.
