On this day 187 years ago, the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 liberated countless slaves in the reaches of the British Empire across the globe. This law was passed to further the cause and intent of the Slave TradeAct of 1807 which served well in prohibiting the trade of slaves but not the practice of slavery. Although it took three more decades to completely end slavery, many consider this day as one of the early wins and triumphs in attaining freedom and equality.
