Genshin Impact, a game developed by miHoYo, has garnered a great amount of attention since it came out in September of 2020. It is an open-world game wherein players are sent on adventures through unknown lands in a mission to find their twin who was taken by one of the seven archons. It has gained many players since coming out, drawing in even more attention with its multi-player feature, allowing you to explore the in-game world of Teyvat with up to three other players.
Last July, the game released a new, and rather highly anticipated update, which added a region called Inazuma. Inazuma is inspired by the landscape and culture of Japan, serving as home to the Electro Archon, Raiden Shogun (Baal) in addition to Mondstadt and Liyue, which are inspired by German and Chinese cultures respectively. Players must unlock a certain quest before having access to the new region as Inazuma is a group of islands located far from the mainland of Teyvat. The new update came along with new characters, such as the most recent banner character, Baal, and new quests based in Inazuma.
The game is said to have log-in events, promo codes, and giveaways of various in-game currencies, including Mora, Primogems, and experience points as it approaches its first anniversary. However, the recent release of Inazuma was said to have been a lot of work, taking away time for the developers to create a grand event for their first anniversary. This is disappointing for many fans and players who were expecting more from them, but it can also serve as a testament for game developers, many of whom are overworked and underpaid to this day. Let us all learn to appreciate the beautiful things people create for our enjoyment and let us give love and appreciation to them for keeping us entertained during this time of crisis at the end of everything. Ad Astra Abyssosque!
