In an online survey conducted last September 17 through 20 by the Social Weather Station (SWS), 4 in 5 Filipinos said that their quality of life worsened within the past 12 months.
Results from the nationwide survey of 1,249 adult Filipinos aged 18 years old and above had 83% of the respondents claim there was a decline in the quality of life, while 11% said there was no change, and 6% said that it got better.
The SWS explained that these survey results were the worst trend recorded by the social research institution since June of 2008 because of rice and oil price spikes.
When asked if the participant’s family had ever once run out of food, 22% confirmed they experienced severe hunger, while 52% stated they had encountered moderate hunger.
The National Mobile Phone Survey was organized through mobile phone and computer-assisted telephone interviewing with the four following major study areas: National Capital Region, Balance Luzon (or Luzon outside of NCR), the Visayas, and Mindanao.
Surveys about the quality-of-life trend in the past 12 months have been conducted 137 times since April 1983.
